A good shelter for boaters
The port of San Vito lo Capo enjoys a position within a gulf delimited to the west by the tip of the lighthouse and to the east by the tip of Solanto.
Two extensive rocky shallows break the waves and make it a safe port, something that the Romans, Phoenicians, Arabs, Normans and Spanish who came here to lower their anchors to escape the storms were aware of.
In the port body of water (over 72 thousand square meters of crystal clear sea) four floating piers have been built capable of hosting almost 500 boats, and the seabed up to eight meters deep allows even the largest yachts to dock. For yachtsmen security, electricity and water at the piers are ensured.
There are some diving centers that offer dives in the splendid seabed rich in fish and finds, and sailing and surfing schools for fun coastal navigation with the wind at your back.
The large fishing fleet of San Vito moors at the quays of the two piers, but there is also room for sailing boats and motorboats, which are welcomed with the utmost kindness by the local sailors, always willing to provide advice and help to boaters. The affectionate hospitality of the San Vito fishermen is one of the many gifts that this land offers to tourists.
The port is completely sheltered from the Tramontana and Mistral winds while the Grecale and Libeccio do not cause difficulties, the Scirocco is only annoying for boats moored in the first section of the western pier.
For those reaching San Vito from the sea, the port coordinates are: latitude 38° 11' north, longitude 12° 44' east.
