The Zingaro Reserve proves once again to be a true natural paradise
The Guardian , the well-known English online magazine, has included Cala dell'Uzzo among the best 22 travel discoveries of 2022.
The prestigious award brings one of the most fascinating coves of the Riserva dello Zingaro to international prominence, the first reserve born in Sicily in 1981.
The article dated December 17 is signed by Hilary Brad . The journalist visiting the reserve during a warm October day was particularly struck by the extraordinary beauty of this delightful cove and could not resist a dip in its clear waters.
“This is the most beautiful beach she has ever seen!… No gemstone sparkles in this shade of blue,” "The beach of smooth white pebbles sloped steeply, so within a few steps I was waist-deep in the warm Mediterranean waters, with schools of fish lazily peering at my ankles.
I fully agree, this spectacle of nature is located in one of the most beautiful stretches of western Sicily, between tufts of dwarf palms and cliffs overlooking the sea.
The Zingaro Reserve is one of the most visited places in Sicily, it covers an area of about 1,700 hectares, between San Vito Lo Capo and Castellammare del Golfo, its seven km of coastline, which can only be traveled on foot, is interspersed with beaches, cliffs, caves and a varied Mediterranean maquis.
Impossible to resist the beauty of its sea, but also the variety of its paths. In addition to the simpler coastal routes, others climb its high peaks, including the Sentiero Italia CAI , particularly loved by trekkers and sportsmen.
