San Vito Lo Capo, a paradise between sky and sea
Nestled on the long beach whose colors recall the distant Caribbean, San Vito Lo Capo, thanks to its mild climate even in winter, is one of the most popular destinations in western Sicily . Its position, between Palermo and Trapani, allows it to be easily reached from the two airports: Florio and Falcone-Borsellino.
A village town, with low houses dotted with jasmine and bougainvillea, a Mediterranean atmosphere that immediately promises lots of relaxation...
The natural beauty and the magic of places touched by myth are just some of the reasons that make a holiday in this corner of paradise essential. We are a few kilometers from the suggestive natural pearl of the Zingaro Reserve , from the splendid Monte Cofano , from the legendary Erice and from the Doric temple of Segesta ... but much more awaits you!
The heart of the town is Piazza Santuario which overlooks the sanctuary-fortress dedicated to San Vito martyr, patron saint of the town. From here, Via Savoia quickly reaches the sea, an irresistible attraction for everyone.
Via Savoia, very popular especially in the evening, is a destination for shopping and relaxing walks, while in the bars on the beach young people meet at sunset for lively Happy Hours.
Musicians, street artists, stalls full of original artefacts enrich the long summer evenings.
typical street of san vito lo capo
A very characteristic corner of the town of San Vito Lo Capo is via Venza, an open space located right next to the main square.
But on a holiday in Sicily you cannot miss the taste experience...its excellent cuisine brings together and pacifies all palates around its most famous dishes...the most delicious desserts...and local products and excellent quality wines.
The most anticipated events of the year are those dedicated to food: the Cous Cous Fest and Bagli, Olio e Mare. The Cous Cous Fest takes place every year at the end of September. The event brings together the entire world around the typical dish of Arab origin, in the name of peace between peoples.
Bagli, Olio e Mare keeps alive the tradition of the simple cuisine of the local farmers and fishermen and takes us with its scents to the beach of Baia Santa Margherita, a few minutes from Castelluzzo and Macari, two quiet hamlets of San Vito Lo Capo... and it is immediately a feast of flavours.
Happy holiday!…
But it is on the beautiful beach of San Vito Lo Capo ( live webcam ) that everyone meets every day to enjoy the sea in the hottest hours of the day.
A long strip of very fine sand, a sea of dazzling colors, shallow and safe waters even for the little ones, a jewel set between the majestic Monte Monaco and the rocky wall of the Egitarso plateau, to be envied, especially in spring, to the best Caribbean beaches.
In summer, if you don't feel like returning home for your lunch break, you can comfortably have a snack on the seafront where numerous restaurants and bars overlook. If you want to move around a bit, you can rent a bike and go to the lighthouse, one of the most evocative places in the country. Its beam of light guides the boats and illuminates the entire bay every evening.
You can't miss a nice tour along the quay where the fishermen dock their colorful boats. Especially in the morning, at the port, you might be lucky enough to buy some freshly caught fish directly from them.
Not far from the port you can admire the Torrazzo , one of the numerous defense towers found along the Sicilian coast which once served to protect the island from pirate attacks.
